Crown and Throne

“The Crown and Throne” series marks the inception of my exploration into immigration experiences. It revolves around the roots and connections of a persona settled upon a throne, intertwined with the theme of movement. The characters in this series are adorned with various placements.

This narrative seeks to unravel the complexities of a character in transition, navigating the delicate balance between the feminine and masculine aspects of their identity. Through migration, this character becomes intertwined with memories and belongings from a previous life. The chair becomes a symbolic place for settling and relaxing, facing the past trauma, a repository of roots and childhood memories within a nurturing land.

Over time, as the character settles into the new environment, an intriguing realization emerges: they share common roots with the indigenous people of that land. The series highlights the discovery of similarities and hidden secrets within the layers of history, creating a tapestry of interconnectedness. The work is a testament to the broader theme of relation and connection, exploring the universal elements that transcend geographical boundaries and cultural specifics. It seeks to uncover the hidden threads linking disparate elements and reveal the shared connections that bind us all, irrespective of our origins.
